A modern boutique hotel will open in the historic Art Nouveau castle.

Majvik’s protected Art Nouveau castle located within the hotel grounds will undergo a comprehensive renovation. Upon completion, the castle will reopen as a high-end boutique hotel and banquet restaurant. Guests will be welcomed in spring 2027.

A new chapter for a prestigious historic building

The Art Nouveau castle will be transformed into a premium destination that meets the expectations of today’s hotel guest. The castle’s stories, the surrounding park, and modern comfort come together to create a harmonious whole. The banquet restaurant will turn the castle into a stage for meaningful celebrations — a place where guests don’t simply stay overnight, but experience moments that will be remembered for decades.

A renovation that honors the past

The renovation is symbolically scheduled for 2026, marking 70 years since Porkkala was relinquished. The Art Nouveau castle was once part of the Porkkala leased area and served as a radar station.

The new chapter will be carried out in close cooperation with heritage authorities, with deep respect for the building’s original architecture. Energy efficiency, accessibility, and modern comfort will be upgraded to meet today’s standards. Contemporary building systems will be integrated discreetly to preserve the historic atmosphere.

The stories live on

While the aim is to preserve the building’s identity, its lived history will also be brought to the forefront. The rooms and suites will be named after figures known from Majvik’s story, such as the Af Forselles Suite, Anne-Marie’s Lawn Tennis Suite, Emma’s Garden Suite, and the Castle Tower Suite. Portraits and story panels will share the histories of their namesakes.

History will not be forgotten in the interior design either, where restored and refurbished original furnishings continue to tell the same story.
